Get Acquainted with the all new Opera Mobile 10 beta for Windows Mobile

The latest and greatest Opera Mobile 10 beta has been around for Symbian OS for a couple of weeks now, but it's only now that it's available to the Windows Mobile crowd as well. You can download it for free as we speak.

Windows Mobile users would finally be able to download a beta version of one of the best mobile web browser (and free, too). According to the developers, with this release they are now able to offer consistent user experience across all the various platforms that support their Opera browsers (even desktop).

Meet the new Opera Mobile 10 beta for Windows Mobile

Basically, the Opera Mobile 10 beta for WinMo smartphones should be the same as the one for Symbian-based devices and similar in features to the recent Opera Mini 5 (the Opera browser for non-smartphones). So, you get the Speed Dial (which is nothing else but a list of visual bookmarks), the tabbed browsing (allowing you to browse multiple web sites at a time) and the new, more intuitive interface. There's also a login manager and an option for server-side compression Opera Turbo.

New Windows Mobile 6.5 HTC Mega and Android Powered HTC Click Smartphones Insider Pictures.....

HTC is in the forefront of modernizing Windows Mobile and they're the driving force behind the hardware of most Android phones (and a new UI as of recently). They're not showing any signs of backing down on either platform and seem to have two new entry-level handsets under way, one for each OS - the HTC Mega and HTC Click.

The HTC Click is yet to be announced but that didn't stop the Leak Fairy from bringing us photos and specs. It's a touchscreen bar, roughly the same size as the HTC Magic - a bit shorter, a bit wider and just as thick. It runs Android OS ver. 1.5 (a.k.a. Donut) and lacks Sense UI, which probably indicates it will be a "Google Experience" phone.

The rest of the specs of the HTC Click include a microSD slot, a 3.5mm audio jack and a 1100mAh battery. There's also the standard miniUSB port. We're not quite sure what resolution the camera shoots in but it's obvious it doesn't have a flash.

The touchscreen on the HTC Magic is bigger than the one on the Click but we're not sure by how much (we guesstimate it's about 2.8"). The typical Android buttons are available bellow the display, but the trackball was replaced by a D-pad - making the HTC Click the second Android phone with a D-pad ever (the first is the Samsung I7500 Galaxy).

The second HTC phone for today is the HTC Mega. Don't get confused, the "mega" here doesn't stand for "mega expensive", quite the opposite actually. You can say it's the HTC Touch 3G freshened up. It has the same wireless capabilities - quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual-band HSPA (up to 7.2Mbps), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and GPS.

The biggest change is the OS - Windows Mobile 6.5. Physically, it's almost the size of the Touch 3G, but the HTC Mega is almost 2 mm thinner - 104x55x12.8 mm. It has the helpful home, menu and back keys and a touch zoom bar like on the Touch Diamond2. The rest of the specs are almost identical as well - the same 528MHz CPU, RAM got bumped up to 256MB, a 2.8" QVGA touchscreen, with 3.2 fixed-focus camera and microSD card slot. Even the battery is the same at 1100mAh.

Windows Mobile-based LG GM730 hits Celluloco.com shelves on June 28, 2009 - Place your Pre-Order Now!

Those WinMo fans are by far the luckiest fellas recently. After the four announcements by Samsung yesterday, it now came time for LG to stand in the spotlight. The nicely-spec'd LG GM730 is available in the Australian and Asian market from today with the rest of the world expected to follow soon.

LG GM730 is the first fruit of the recently announced partnership between LG and Microsoft and combines the power of Windows Mobile 6.1 OS with the user-friendliness and fluidity of the S-class UI. The fully touch-operated handset comes with a 3" WQVGA screen, A-GPS, Wi-Fi and a 5 megapixel camera. USB and Bluetooth connectivity is also on board and the device still manages to remain pretty slim at 11.9mm.

LG GM730

LG have made a slight modification to the design of the GM730, compared to what they showcased in February in Barcelona. The round D-pad is replaced by a more traditional rectangular one and the icon on its confirmation center seems to have been removed. That way they have achieved some remarkable resemblance to the original Samsung i900 Omnia both specs-wise and design-wise.

The first countries to receive the LG GM730 will be Singapore, Taiwan and Australia. The handset will be available in three color versions - Black, Lime and Pink, but there is no MSRP announced.

Microsoft My Phone freely opened to all Windows Mobile users

http://www.celluloco.com

My Phone is the latest WinMo service by Microsoft allowing users to backup their phone files and personal info online. The service was launched back in February, but it's only now that it's finally opened to everyone with Windows Mobile devices without the bugging invitation procedure - all you need to access it is a Windows Live account.

My Phone can perform daily backup of all data on your WinMo device - from the contacts to the multimedia content. There is a limit of course and it's 200MB of storage, which we can say is pretty enough for the critical info.

The backup content can be accessed later online or can be used to restore your data to a new device if, for instance, you misplace yours.

In the future, the service will even allow you to change your wallpaper, ringtone and some more basic settings directly through the web interface eliminating the need to dig in the phone's settings.Microsoft promise they'll continue the integration of My Phone with many Windows Live services such as Live's contacts, photos, calendar, etc.

My Phone most probably will be integrated with the upcoming, but already became popular Windows 7 desktop OS, and will be available as a standard option when you connect a WinMo device. You can access the My Phone service form here.

Microsoft fans flames with non-response to iPhone-alike rumor

http://www.celluloco.com/home.php

There’s a reason most companies have a policy against responding to rumors and speculation. When a company responds to a rumor with PR-speak it simply spawns more speculation. Of course sometimes that’s exactly what a company wants to do — fan the flames, keep the hype going, etc. If we were betting men (and a woman), we’d say this just so happens to be one of those times. Yesterday the Journal ran a rumor that Microsoft and Verizon were in the kitchen cooking up a handset to combat the iPhone. In a nutshell, Microsoft was said to be tweaking its OS with a multimedia focus, assisting with the design and that a third party would be building the handset. Microsoft’s official response: “Microsoft is not going into the phone hardware business.” Right then. While the rumor does suggest Microsoft would be assisting with the design of the handset, it puts Microsoft on the software side of the project for the most part. This hardly suggests Redmond is getting into the “phone hardware business”. So there you have it folks — Microsoft might be working with Verizon and using its Danger resources to develop a handset and modified OS that attack the iPhone on all fronts, but its not getting into the phone hardware business. Microsoft’s full response:

Microsoft is not going into the phone hardware business. Microsoft is not building a Zune-specific phone. We’re deepening our relationships with our hardware partners in order to create even better performing phones that are competitively priced, have the features people want, that are easy-to-use and just downright lust-worthy. The upcoming availability of Windows Mobile 6.5 software will enable our OEM partners to build even more compelling devices in a wide-range of form factors for customers around the world.

Windows Mobile 6.5 to get TellMe Voice Command integration

http://www.celluloco.com/home.php

Windows Mobile 6.5 users will be able to say bye bye to Microsoft Voice Command and hello to TellMe when next generation Windows Mobile handsets finally hit store shelves this fall. Currently available for BlackBerry handsets via a third party application (ironically provided by Microsoft as TellMe is a subsidiary of the Redmond, WA computer giant) and also present on the Samsung Instinct, TellMe will now be integrated into upcoming Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets. The new TellMe solution will feature one-button, voice-driven access to text messaging, phone dialing, traffic information, GPS data and searching via Microsoft Live search. TellMe for 6.5 will be available for free via the Windows Mobile Marketplace or as a value added feature pre-installed by carriers and handset manufacturers. Sweet!

The sleek Samsung B7300 is the latest leak concerning a Samsung handset. This time around it's a Windows Mobile phone, which however has inherited the looks of the Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH, which will obviously be their 2009 styling.

Samsung prepping loads of high-end touch phones in 2009

Thirteen new Samsung touchscreen phones have been spotted at a dealer's event held by the company in Amsterdam. The two most exciting new phones include a new version of the Omnia HD running on Windows Mobile 6.5 plus their first Android phone.

At this time, there are very few details available coming mostly from a blurry shot taken at the event. It's not really clear how the new version Omnia HD upgrades the currently announced one, except for the fact that it will run on Winodws Mobile (if that can be counted as an upgrade that is).

A new Omnia HD?

The first Samsung Android phone reportedly bears a resemblance to the Samsung Blue Earth phone, at least in looks. It is expected to have a 5 megapixel camera.
